Laura Cook

Counsellor and
Psycotherapist
Welcome
People seek counselling and psychotherapy for many reasons.
Perhaps you would like your relationships to improve; maybe you'd like to break recurring patterns in your life; you might be suffering with grief, anxiety or depression and need support to move forward.
Taking the first step can feel daunting. Whatever your issues, I provide a non judgmental, safe and confidential environment to help you explore them and open up possibilities for change. I draw on a variety of techniques to help meet your individual needs and enable you to live your life as you would like.
My practice is based in Vauxhall, London, SW8.

Individuals
We all face many challenges every day and sometimes it feels overwhelming.
You might be suffering from traumatic experiences, depression, anxiety, grief, loss, anger or low self esteem.
Counselling can help explore and identify what is going on for you, where it stems from and then bring new perspectives and possibilities for change. It can help you develop more effective personal strategies for managing difficult feelings.
Couples
Whether you are married, living together, same sex, old or young, relationships can be challenging.
Perhaps you feel stuck in the same pattern of arguing that you never manage to resolve.
Maybe you have suffered a trauma, are dealing with an affair or struggling with sex and intimacy.
Perhaps you simply wish you could communicate better.
My approach
I offer a friendly, collaborative and empathetic environment where we can work together to explore your issues. I'm interested both in what you're experiencing now and how your past might be affecting it.
My training and experience enable me to integrate theories and techniques to tailor counselling to your needs. My aim is to help you gain insight and identify internal and external resources to help create positive change.
I'm happy to chat on the phone and deal with any questions or concerns before you decide to book a session. At the initial session we can decide together what you would like to achieve from counselling and whether it is right for you.
Sessions are weekly and 50-60 minutes long. I offer both short and longer term counselling depending on your needs.
